So Jack is one year - wow this year really flew by. I remember how sweet and easy his birth was and what a wonderful time we had as a family adjusting to 4 those first few weeks. I am so thankful to be here at one year though - i love the baby and newborn stage but Jack has had a rough first year so i am thankful for him that he has passed it. The first 3 months he cried all the time and threw up a lot. I never could put him on his back or he would choke from reflux. I thought he had grown out of it by 3 months but from 6-8 months he spit out everything and from about 8 months on he has coughed in bed every night and most nap times.
We kept thinking maybe he was just getting cold viruses over and over. I am thankful that in June we were able to see the SAME pediatrician (we always saw a different person at the base) to address his problems. With those symptoms, combined with the fact that my little guy was not gaining weight (he was in the 5th percentile for weight), we started him on reflux meds. Please pray this little guy can find some relief to this discomfort!!
Really, because of the coughing and refusing to eat, he didn't sleep through the night consistently till about 9 months old (and by then i was pregnant and not sleeping!! Oh goodness, you have one sleep deprived mommy...). He is not much of a cuddler yet but mostly because he is so active! He kinda does his own think and walks to the beat of his own drums as a crawling baby! He doesn't tolerate it well when Andrew comes to play with something he is playing with. But he loves it when Andrew tickles him or chases him around the house or plays peek-a-boo. He does love his brother.
He loves his pooh bear and sleeps with him every night. He really is a happy boy considering all the discomfort he has endured over the past year from the reflux and lack of sleep. I just can't wait to see how his personality develops over the next year. He is a joy and we are so blessed to be his parents.

I just can't believe that he is already 1! Seems like the year just flew by to me! He has gotten so darling, and I love that he has his own, individual personality!
Hugs to you guys! And, pat little Elsie Rae for us too!
So sweet! I've been waiting for these pictures :) Jack looks a little bit more like Andrew in these pics, Josh and I think. That's so crazy about the reflux! And to think it could have been causing all that the whole time! I hope the meds work for him, poor little guy! Ad I hope you are able to get some sleep, too! What is it about being pregnant, especially, that makes us lose sleep? I finally slept for 5 hours straight last night and it was wonderful!
Love you!
Michelle
