"Mommy, I need you to Hold me"

-The other Saturday i was able to get out for a few hours before the boys woke up to go to panera and to the gym. I called Stephen at about 9:15 a.m. to see if things were going o.k. so that i could go to the store or if i needed to come home. He told me Andrew had woken about an hour ago and was waiting in bed for me to come home before he got up. I came home and walked into his room and he said "mommy, I need you to Hold me". It was just so sweet and i held him as long as he wanted (which was only about 30 seconds) and then he was all set for the day. It made me sad that he is getting so big so fast and won't always want me to hold him!

-We are officially in the "why" stage with Andrew. And these are hard questions he asks! I guess i assumed the why stage was more "why do we put this here" or "why is the sky blue" but with Andrew they are more questions about what is inside and behind things. Like "what is behind the sky" and "what is under the dirt" and "if we dig through the dirt, do we get to the sky again" and "where does God put the sun when it isn't shining on us". I am trying to retrieve my basic science knowledge to answer his questions! Or "what is inside water" and "what is inside milk".

-The other day Elsie was sleeping and i was trying to take advantage of the time to clean the kitchen while the boys played outside. The boys wanted a snack and i brought them one on the table outside and Andrew asked me to sit down with them. I almost said "no, i need to finish cleaning" but decided it was better to stay with them. He started asking me all sorts of questions, about where God lives and why doesn't he live in a house like us, and questions about how God makes things work and the sky. It was a sweet moment of explaining things and a good reminder to join them when asked and made me thankful that i could be the one giving him answers to these important life questions!

-This Sunday was a big Sunday for us! I have learned that stages change so quickly with children that you can't count on something sticking forever! But i have started teaching in Andrew's new 3 year old Sunday School class 2 times a month - i really wanted him to start going to his class and i hoped it would be a good transition if i were there for some of it. Last week he went for the full 3 hours (2 different teachers) while Stephen and i went to Sunday School and Church. This morning i taught with him there the first section, then left a happy Andrew for his next section with a different teacher. When Stephen came to pick him up he started crying because he didn't want to leave!! Is this my child who has cried if dropped him off in a nursery for the past 3 years? Everyone said this would happen but sometimes you just don't believe it! We'll see if it lasts all year!
