Several weeks ago we enjoyed a break from our moderate summer drought with several days of strong rains. Our basement drains backed up and the rain water bubbled into our basement. Unfortunately, Michelle, Kaitlin, and Kristen were storing some of their things down there for the summer. We learned 2 lessons from this... cardboard boxes aren't waterproof, and Adam from Roto Rooter is a great guy. Long story short, we cleared out the drain lines, dried up the basement, and moved all that we could up to the garage. The girls textbooks got the worst of the damage, but most of the other stuff is ok. Here are some pictures:
